Cosmetic Surgery and Treatments
Facial rejuvenation
Surgical: Face and neck lift surgery is particularly useful for
correcting loose skin around the lower face and neck. Eyelid surgery
is also discussed below. The appropriate combination of surgical
and non-surgical facial rejuvenation should be discussed with your
GPS Plastic surgeon.
Laser and IPL: Either laser resurfacing, non-ablative laser, Intense
Pulse Light (IPL) or a combination of these may be used for fine
lines and wrinkles, improving skin surface texture, uneven pigmentation
and surface capillaries. The latest non-ablative techniques offer
low “down-time”, with rapid return to normal activities.
Resurfacing: This covers a range of procedures including laser resurfacing,
chemical peels, and microdermabrasion.
These treatments can help with acne scarring, surface irregularities
and fine lines.
Filling agents: Many widely known products can be used to fill out
wrinkles and areas of skin depression. Some of the newer products
can have a longer lasting benefit than the original materials used.
Expression line reduction: In areas where muscle activity is causing
excessive surface lines and wrinkles, small injections can be used
to reduce the muscle activity locally.
Breast Surgery
Breast Augmentation: Breast volume may not develop to a level which
you are comfortable with, or pregnancy and lactation, may take away
what you once had. In either case, there are options available with
a wide range of modern, high technology breast implants. These have
developed greatly over recent years, and are now much better than
what was once available.
Breast Reduction: Carrying an excessively large volume of breast
tissue is a burden many are not comfortable with. Breast reduction
can be a life changing operation to relieve you of this. There are
a range of techniques available to suit different needs and many
are surprised that it is not as uncomfortable to have done as they
expected.
Breast Uplift: Weight loss, pregnancy and gravity can all lead to
loose sagging breasts. The excess skin can be removed and the breast
tissue repositioned higher to overcome these problems. A range of
options are available to suit your individual needs.
Breast Reconstruction: Whether due to breast cancer or simply incomplete
development the absence of a breast can be difficult to accept. Reconstruction
may be achieved with either an implant on one or both sides or using
your own tissue with a TRAM, DIEP or other flap reconstruction.
Body contouring
Liposuction: This is ideally suited to those stubborn
areas which just don’t seem to budge, even after the weight
has come off everywhere else. This is commonly used around the hips,
thighs and tummy areas and may be used as an adjunct to other contouring
techniques.
Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty): The skin in the lower tummy is not
always forgiving of weight loss, pregnancy or simply gravity. A range
of options from a mini tummy tuck through to a comprehensive abdominoplasty
may be used to overcome this, sometimes in conjunction with liposuction.
Skin Tightening: A range of surgical procedures are available to
tighten skin in a number or areas including trunk, thighs, arms and
face. This may be necessary after weight loss, pregnancy or simple
the effects of gravity over the years. An exciting new non-surgical
treatment is now available at GPS for skin tightening without any
surgical scars. Known as Titan, this high intensity light based treatment
can cause loose skin to tighten and new collagen to be laid down
under the surface. This is especially useful in the face and tummy
and allows return to normal activities very quickly, even back to
work the same day if you wish.
Nasal Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
The nose is central to the face, so abnormalities of nasal shape
or proportions can have a significant impact. Nasal reshaping can
be used to overcome many undesirable features of the nose. You should
discuss with your GPS Plastic Surgeon just how rhinoplasty can be
tailored to your individual needs.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Upper eyelid skin looseness, lower eyelid wrinkles and bags are
common signs of facial aging. These features can be dealt with using
blepharoplasty surgery, laser surgery, non-surgical cosmetic treatments,
or a combination of these. Your GPS Plastic Surgeon can advise you
on the best options to suit your needs.
Hair removal
Whatever your skin type or hair colour, we can tailor
a permanent hair reduction program to suit your needs. We have the Xeo laser system, for effective hair reduction in all skin
types.
Treating abnormal blood vessels
Facial Capillaries and Spider
Veins: These can be
due to sun damage, hormonal changes, previous injuries, surgery or
some patients are just genetically predisposed to get them. In any
case these can be treated effectively with laser therapy.
Birth Marks: “Port wine” stains and other types of vascular
birthmarks can be faded using laser treatments.
Leg Veins: Surface spider veins, and some deeper blue veins can
be treated with laser therapy.
Treating skin pigmentation
Irregular skin pigmentation can be unsightly, due
to sun damage, hormonal changes, pregnancy, or simply even freckles.
These problems can be dealt with using IPL technology, peels or laser
treatment.
